Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow

Now that its December we have dug out the snow. Magic imitation snow that is, this year we have two kinds. One is light & fluffy the other is cold and crystal like. The children loved making this science project as we measured out just the right amount of water to mix with the powder solution.
Then we had to wait for the magic to happen.......Ta-da the mystery magic snow appeared. We mixed up everything in the clear glass and watched as it the cup overflowed, making the liquid turn into a solid. We also discovered how it multiplied and became more as it poured over the sides and expanded. Then it was time to let each child hold a scoop of the magic powder in their hand as the teacher poured water in to their palm. Each child giggled as snow magically appeared. After each child had a turn making their own batch we took turns playing in it. I hope that I am able to bring the kids up to my moms house in Auburn (she has about 2 ft of snow in her yard)maybe next week so they can play in the real snow for a little bit and then head inside for some hot cocoa by the wood stove before we head back down the hill. We may be able to go over and help feed the horses if the roads are cleared by then.
